Learning Blog

1. What did we do?
We handed in our dialectical journals, went over how to write learning blogs a little bit, and started our self-evaluations for humanities.
2. Why did we do it?
We handed in our dialectical journals to show the teacher that we completed our homework, and we went over how to write learning blogs to clarify things a little bit. We're doing self-evaluations so that we can learn how to reflect upon our learning, recognize our strengths and weaknesses, and set goals for ourselves.
3. Reflections and connections- how were today's class skills or subject matter relevant beyond humanities 8? Where might it be useful and how?
Handing in our dialectical journals is a matter of work habits, and it's important to have good work habits in order to do well in school later on, or to keep a job in the future. Doing self-evaluations can be applicable in other classes, and it helps us become more aware of how we are doing, which will be very useful in school in the future. When we do self-evaluations, we can also become more aware of what we need to improve on, and how we can get better, so we would be able to learn faster.
4. Homework reminders- what is due and when
Our self evaluations are due on Thursday, and our innovation fair proposals are due next Monday.
5. Homework tips- hints, videos, or resources that might help students do well on today's homework
    Tips for self evaluations:
-be honest about where you are at in each category, because you are trying to improve your learning, not impress your teacher or your classmates
-set realistic goals that you will be able to achieve, but don't set goals that are too easy either; push yourself out of your comfort zone
-act on what you said you will do, because that's the only way you'll really be able to improve
