LEO Club

LEO Club

Reporter Mai from the DAILY JAZZY JAS:

At Fraser Heights Secondary, I have found a club who call themselves the “LEO Club”. This revealed itself to stand for the “Leadership, Experience and Opportunity Club”. The LEO club is a miniature version of the International LIONS club. These members volunteer their time to help their community and support charities, by fundraisers, publicity and other fun activities. This year, the Leo club is supporting the LINK (Liberty in North Korea) and Covenant House (Homeless Youth). Volunteer hours are also presented as a small ‘thank you’ for the members’ time. The LEO club meets on Tuesdays at lunch (11:15) in room 217. For those who have interest in this club, one of their favourite sayings is “New Members are Always Welcome”.

To see what members of this club think, I have an interview of a new member, Jasper:

Reporter: So Jasper what do you think of this club?

Jasper: I think this club is great, you can help people, have fun and get volunteer hours!

Reporter: How do you think people hear about this club?

Jasper: I can’t speak for other people, but I found out by the colourful posters throughout the school, as well as current members informing me about LEO club.

Reporter: Are there any 'cons' of joining this club?

Jasper: Like any club, of course there are some cons! This means I'll have a shortened lunch a couple of days, and have to spend time after school to fund-raise. But hopefully the pros will overweight the cons.

Reporter: Do you plan on joining any other clubs?

Jasper: Not at the moment, but next year, I plan on joining a couple more, such as the MUN club.

Maybe next year, we’ll follow Jasper and tell you all about the MUN club, and Jasper’s experience there.

There you have it guys, the whole inside scoop on the LEO club. The LEO club is perfect for people of all interests. Whether you want to help the community, need volunteer minutes or just want something to do with your time. If you would like to join, feel free to go see what LEO really is for yourself, on Tuesdays at room 217.
